About Teaching with Lincoln
Teaching with Lincoln was created by the Teaching with Primary Sources Programs at Barat Education Foundation, Eastern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
The site was developed when each partner expressed that local educators had inquired about relevant and valuable resources that would help them teach students about President Abraham Lincoln. Being from Illinois, we have a special place in our hearts for President Lincoln. As the country prepares to celebrate the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth in February 2009 and the 150th Anniversary of the Lincoln-Douglas Debates in the summer and fall of 2008, interest in our 16th President has increased.
We hope that you find this site helpful and a means of inspiration to create new learning activities for your classroom! If you would like to share any of your ideas or activities, please contact us.
