- Frederick Douglass to Abraham Lincoln, Monday, August 29, 1864 (Plan for helping slaves escape from rebel states) American Memory
- Abraham Lincoln to Lydia Bixby, Monday, November 21, 1864 (Printed copy) American Memory. Mrs. Lydia Bixby was reported to be the mother of five sons killed fighting for the Union. There is no known hand written copy of this letter. There are questions about it authenticity claiming that John Hays, Lincoln's secretary wrote the letter not President Lincoln.

In the Matson slave case Abraham Lincoln represented a slave owner who brought his slaves from Kentucky to work on his property in Coles County, Illinois.
